Autodesk – Designing for Virtual Reality: Beyond the Games

ABSTRACT

Virtual Reality is everywhere now, from high-end gaming systems like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive to the cheap ubiquitous Google Cardboard that is powered by your mobile phone. VR is also finding application in many fields outside of games, including architecture, automotive design, civic infrastructure, genetic engineering, aviation and psychotherapy. But VR is more than just the latest device fad – humans engage in fundamentally different ways with VR environment. This opens a world of new opportunities for the designer, but also brings a new set of health and safety concerns. Many design and interaction techniques that work well for desktop and mobile UX simply don’t apply in VR UX. Learn about these challenges and new ways to approach design to create comfortable and compelling VR experiences.
